Access via the Maintenance Entrance (Rue des Escaliers Sainte-Anne):

  • For visitors who only wish to visit the gardens or the Lower Treasury Room.
  • For visitors already inside the Palais des Papes who wish to access the Pontifical Gardens.

Animals are not allowed on the site.

Every day 

  • January 5 to February 6: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • February 7 to 28: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • March 1 to November 1: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • November 2 to December 18: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • December 19 to 31: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Accessibility

  • The gardens are partially accessible via the Cour Maria Casarès entrance for accompanied wheelchairs (access to the gardens is steep). A reserved parking space is available nearby.

The Pontifical Gardens of the Popes' Palace

The Jardin du Pape is an intimate garden with direct access from the Pope's apartments. The redevelopment has restored its precious character, with the re-creation of the griffin fountain and the surrounding flower meadow. The famous and imposing Roma building, of which only a trace remains on the ground, has been reconstituted in the form of a monumental pergola, which will eventually be entirely covered with plants.a restoration project undertaken by the City of Avignon and Avignon Tourisme with the support of the State, the DRAC, the Southern Region, the Crédit Agricole Foundation and the L'Occitane Foundation.



 

GARDEN ACCESS - Two entrance accesses:

-Lower Treasury Room, for visitors already in the Pope's Palace who whish to visit the Pontifical gardens

-"Manutention" (Street Escaliers Ste Anne, 4), for visitors who wish to visit only the Pontifical gardens
