Founded by Pope Innocent VI in 1356, whose tomb it houses, the Charterhouse is one of the largest monasteries of the Carthusian order.

<p><strong>From October 15 to mid-April,</strong> Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm (tour lasts 1 hour)&nbsp;</p><p><strong>From mid-April to mid-October</strong><br />Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30 am to 6:30 pm</p><p><strong>July and August</strong><br />daily from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm</p><p><strong>Open Mondays in July and August and Easter and Whitsun Mondays.</strong><br /><strong>Closed</strong> on January 1, May 1, November 1 and 11, December 25 and from January 5&nbsp;to 18, 2026&nbsp;inclusive<br />Last admission: 30 minutes before closing time&nbsp;</p><p>For the Bookshop: From 11am to the close of the monument. Closed Mondays and Sundays<br />For the Library Caf&eacute;: Tuesday to Saturday, from 1:30 pm to monument closing time. From April to September, the caf&eacute; is also open on Sundays.</p>

    <ul> <li>From the A7, take the &quot;Avignon nord&quot; exit, follow Avignon Centre then Villeneuve lez Avignon over the &quot;Pont Daladier&quot; bridge, then turn right towards Villeneuve Centre. Continue for approx. 1 km, then go straight on at the traffic circle, round the Fort Saint-Andr&eacute; to the traffic lights. La Chartreuse parking lot (3) is on your left.</li> <li>From the A9, take the &quot;Remoulins&quot; exit, then follow signs for Avignon and Villeneuve lez Avignon</li></ul>
